Galaxy Note 8
More Note 8 leaks arrive ahead of official launch.
The Note 8 is almost upon us, and as with all phone launches, we pretty much know what we’re getting with the new phablet.
The usual stream of leaks and rumours have left little to the imagination when it comes Samsung’s Note 7 follow-up, with the official ‘Unpacked’ event – set for August 23.
But just in case you needed another pre-release look at the device, smartphone case maker Spigen has posted a few renders of the phone
The Note 8, encased in Spigen cases, appears in a couple of images posted to Slashleaks this past weekend, seemingly confirming a few of the rumoured design features.
If the design shown off in the shots is accurate, which at this point certainly seems likely, you can expect much of the mooted features to be present on the device.
That includes the edge-to-edge ‘Infinity Display’ first seen on this year’s Galaxy S8, along with the lack of a physical home button, and a dual-camera setup on the rear.
The Note 8 is also expected to come packing Samsung’s own Exynos 8895 chip or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor.
Also shown off in the Spigen images is the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor – a feature that appeared on the S8 and which was quickly criticised for its awkward placement next to the camera lens.
Both Samsung and Apple are said to be working on technology that allows for fingerprint sensors to be embedded in smartphone displays, but in the case of the Note 8 it seems likely we’ll have to make do with the rear-mounted option.
Samsung will also likely opt for a large 6.3-inch display on the new phablet, making for the largest in the range to date, and topping even the S8 Plus’ 6.2-inch panel.
As mentioned, the Note 8 is expected to debut at the Unpacked event on August 23, with a September release date also tipped.
